Narges Mohammadi’s Demand: Public Trial for Transparency, Integrity, and Justice

On May 17th, 2024, Mostafa Nili, the legal representative of Narges Mohammadi, announced via Twitter: “The court will convene to address the new charges against Ms. Narges Mohammadi, accused of propaganda against the Islamic Republic regime. This pivotal session is scheduled for Monday, May 19th, at Branch 29 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Tehran.”

Narges Mohammadi states today in a message from Evin Prison : You are prosecuting me on May 19th for alleged propaganda against the regime and for protesting sexual assault on women. It is imperative that you conduct a public trial with the presence of independent journalists, women’s rights activists, human rights advocates, and my legal representatives. I insist on a trial where witnesses and survivors can testify to the sexual assaults perpetrated by the Islamic Republic regime against women.

Narges continues in her message, which was received today on May 18th, 2024:

“For the fourth time in the past four years, I am dragged to the unjust and farcical courts’ table due to my protest and disclosure of the religious regime’s men’s sexual assault against women.
The first time, I protested shameless assaults by government men on myself in the Evin Prison compound on January 23, 2011, and although I was the complainant, I was falsely accused.
The second time, due to organizing a workshop on “sexual assault and harassment” in House of Writers and narrating assaults, and the third time, due to writing a statement and testifying in the “Women, Life, Freedom” movement against the assaults on my comrades, I was sentenced to prison and lashes.
And this time, the trial is due to my objection to the bruising of the body and narrating the assault on Dina Ghalaibaf. This case was quickly brought to trial one day after sending my voice message, convened in Branch 7 of the Sacred Court.
The court will be held on May 19th 2024. I have requested that the court be held publicly with the presence of independent journalists, human rights activists, women’s rights activists, and my lawyers. Witnesses, along with their lawyers, should be able to attend with guarantees of physical, mental, and legal security, and openly recount their assaults.”

به اتهام تبلیغ علیه نظام و به دلیل اعتراض به تعرض جنسی به زنان سی ام اردیبهشت محاکمه ام می کنید. موظف هستید دادگاه علنی با حضور خبرنگاران مستقل و فعالان زنان و حقوق بشر و وکلایم برگزار کنید. میخواهم با همراهی شهادت دهندگان و راویان تعرض جنسی حکومت دینی استبدادی به زنان در دادگاه محاکمه شوم.
برای چهارمین بار طی چهار سال گذشته به موجب اعتراض و افشای تعرض جنسی مردان حکومت دینی به زنان پای میز محاکمات ظالمانه و فرمایشی کشیده میشوم.
بار اول به تعرض بی شرمانه مردان حکومتی به خودم در سوم دی ماه ۱۳۸۹ در محوطه اوین اعتراض کردم و گرچه شاکی بودم در جایگاه متهم نشاندنم .
بار دوم به دلیل برگزاری روم” تعرض و اذیت و آزار جنسی” در کلاب هاووس و روایت گری تعرض و بار سوم به دلیل نوشتن بیانیه و شهادت دادنم در جنبش “زن، زندگی، ازادی” نسبت به تعرض های صورت گرفته علیه هم بندی هایم به زندان و شلاق محکوم شده ام.
و این بار محاکمه به دلیل اعتراضم به کبودی تن و روایت تعرض به دینا قالیباف است .این پرونده یک روز پس از ارسال پیام صوتی ام ، در شعبه ۷ دادسرای مقدس تشکیل و به سرعت به مرحله محاکمه رسانده شد.

دادگاه روز سی ام اردیبهشت برگزار خواهد شد. درخواست کرده ام دادگاه به صورت علنی با حضور خبرنگاران و روزنامه نگاران مستقل و فعالان حقوق بشر و فعالان زنان و وکلایم برگزار شود و شهادت دهندگان همراهم با تضمین امنیت جانی، روانی و قضایی بتوانند به همراه وکلایشان حضور پیدا کرده و روایت تعرضشان را به شکل علنی و عمومی بازگو نمایند.
