Narges Mohammadi’s Message for ELLE x Women 2025 in Madrid
Elle wrote : “we enthusiastically celebrated the fifth edition of ELLE x Women, which pay tribute to the efforts and courage of bold and disruptive women who are transforming the world; hence the slogan for 2025: ‘Women for change’. One of the most moving moments of the event was the live participation of Narges Mohammadi, Nobel Peace Prize laureate 2023, an activist who has devoted her life to defending women’s rights and advocating for the abolition of the death penalty in Iran.”
As a special guest, Narges Mohammadi joined virtually from Iran to deliver a powerful speech on women’s rights, human rights, and the ongoing struggle for freedom, equality, and democracy in her country. She highlighted the urgent need to criminalize gender apartheid and to challenge oppressive systems that discriminate against women.
ELLE described her presence as one of the defining moments of the evening, stating: “Narges was a voice of courage and resilience, reminding us of the relentless fight for women’s rights worldwide.”
The event, organized by ELLE Spain, brought together influential women from various fields, including human rights, media, art, and politics, to share their stories of resistance and triumph. Among the distinguished participants were Spanish actress Paz Vega, singer Vanesa Martín, artist Rigoberta Bandini, rapper and activist Sara Socas, conductor Alondra de la Parra, journalist Almudena Ariza, writer Elvira Sastre, and Karen Rispal, France’s first female ambassador to Spain. Each of these women spoke passionately about the challenges ahead in the fight for gender equality.
