On the evening of March 14th, Narges Mohammadi and Sedigheh Vasmaghi, along with a group of human rights activists, visited Mehdi Yarrahi, an Iranian singer and musician known for his song encouraging women to remove their hijabs, who was lashed 74 times as part of his punishment for supporting the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement that swept the country.

Whips and prisons cannot silence or isolate a beloved and well-known artist. On the contrary, they only make him stronger, amplify his voice, and deepen his connection with the protesting people.
Mehdi Yarrahi is one of those artists who stands with the people of Iran, singing for them and paying the price not only through the deprivation of his art but also through imprisonment and lashes.
He became the voice of the people in the powerful “Women, Life, Freedom” movement. His songs, alongside those of other protesting artists, echoed from the throats of protesters, the imprisoned, and those in captivity, with the cry “In your name, which is our code word,” becoming a rallying call for the rebels, while the city sang the anthem of women, life, and freedom.
In protest against the repression of female singers and in solidarity with them, he sacrificed his career—what was rightfully his.
On Friday, March 14th, a group of civil activists, mothers seeking justice, journalists, lawyers, student and labor activists, gathered in Tehran to meet with Mehdi Yarrahi, standing together to strengthen our solidarity and support for him.
We will stand united.

دیدار نرگس محمدی با مهدی یراحی
روز جمعه بیست و چهارم اسفند ماه ۱۴۰۳ نرگس محمدی به همراه جمعی از فعالان مدنی، مادران دادخواه، روزنامه نگاران، وکلا، فعالان دانشجویی و صنفی به دیدار مهدی یراحی رفتند تا با ایستادن در کنار او حمایت خود را از او اعلام کنند.
” شلاق و زندان نمی تواند هنرمند مردمی را به سکوت و انزوا بکشد. برعکس، او را قوی تر، صدایش را رساتر و در میان مردم معترض، محبوب تر می کند.
مهدی یراحی از جمله هنرمندانی است که در کنار مردم ایستاده و برای مردم می خواند و تاوانش را نه فقط با محرومیت از هنرش، بلکه با زندان و شلاق می پردازد.
او در جنبش قدرتمند « زن، زندگی، آزادی» صدای مردم بود.
سرودهای او و هنرمندان معترض، از گلوی معترضان، محبوسان در سلول و زندانیان در بند بر می خاست و فریاد «به نام تو که اسم رمز ماست » خروش و طنین فریاد به پاخاستگان را رقم می زد و شهر را سرود زن و زندگی و آزادی می کرد.
او در اعتراض به سرکوب زنان خواننده، از آنچه حق او بود، چشم پوشید.
روز جمعه بیست و چهارم اسفند ماه جمعی از فعالان مدنی، مادران دادخواه، روزنامه نگاران، وکلا، فعالان دانشجویی و صنفی به دیدار مهدی یراحی رفتیم تا با ایستادن در کنار هم و حمایت از او همدلی و همراهی را محکم تر کنیم.
