Evin Prison Blocks Urgent Hospital Transfer for Sedigheh Vasmaghi

Dr. Sedigheh Vasmaghi, a religious scholar and Islamic studies professor, has been detained and moved to Evin prison’s women’s ward since March 16th, 2024, on charges of “not wearing a headscarf in public” and “not voting in the recent elections”.
Since March 18th, 2024, Sedigheh Vasmaghi, has suffered from severe anxiety following a violent home attack, experiencing nervous attacks, chest pain, trembling, shortness of breath, and severe blood pressure fluctuations.
Regrettably, due to her profound eye issues, she is on the brink of almost vision loss, rendering her extremely vulnerable to increased and intolerable pressure. Upon entering the prison, the medical staff have urgently conveyed her dire condition to the judicial authorities through a formal letter.
She has been rushed to the infirmary three times on consecutive nights, at 2, 3, and 6 in the morning, with nervous attacks on her chest and burning sensation in the area, along with high blood pressure. Doctors have been called into the ward four times.
Today, April 2rd 2024, due to severe chest pain, high blood pressure, and severe trembling of her legs and body, she was taken to the infirmary. After being examined by two prison doctors, an urgent emergency dispatch order was issued, but after four hours of wasted time, it was ultimately announced that the prison authorities are preventing and opposing her transfer to the hospital.
Mrs. Vasmaghi has returned to the ward in an abnormal and worrying condition.

Conscience and humanity dictate that she should at least be allowed treatment in the hospital with her current physical condition and severe visual impairment and repeated attacks in the chest area.

Her refusal to wear a headscarf and her outspoken, firm, and reasoned opposition as this renowned Islamic scholar are the reasons behind her unjust imprisonment.
Unfortunately, the oppressive and ruthless policies of security and judicial institutions have also led to her deprivation of medical treatment and care.
While expressing concern about the alarming situation of Sedigheh Vasmaghi, I condemn the continuation of the oppressive and deadly crackdown by the Iranian government against women protesters.
I urge international forums unequivocally to thwart the tyrannical religious regime’s inhumane policy of “either death or forced hijab”.

علی‌رغم دستور اعزام اورژانسی پزشکان اوین، زندان اوین مانع اعزام صدیقه وسمقی به بیمارستان شده است.

دکتر صدیقه وسمقی دین پژوه و اسلام شناس و استاد دانشگاه با اتهام “سر نکردن روسری در انظار عمومی” و “رأی ندادن در انتخابات اخیر”، ۲۶ اسفند ماه بازداشت و به بند زنان اوین منتقل شده‌است.
صدیقه وسمقی به دلیل هجوم وحشیانه به منزلش که دچار اضطراب شدید شده بود و علی‌رغم اینکه پیش از بازداشت از وضعیت جسمی مناسبی برخوردار بود، از ۲۸ اسفند دچار حمله‌های عصبی، فشار و سوزش در ناحیه‌ی سینه، لرزش دست و پا، تنگی نفس و نوسان شدید فشار خون شده‌است.
متأسفانه ایشان به دلیل ضعف شدید بینایی در فشار مضاعف و غیرقابل تحملی هستند و بدو ورود به زندان، پزشکان زندان طی نامه‌ای عدم تحمل حبس وی را به مقامات قضایی اعلام کرده‌اند.
ایشان ۳ بار در شبهای متوالی، نیمه‌شب ساعت ۲ و ۳ و ۶ صبح با حمله‌ی عصبی روی سینه و سوزش در این ناحیه و بالا بودن فشار خون به بهداری اعزام شده‌اند و ۴ بار پزشک به داخل بند آمده‌است.
امروز ۱۴ فروردین به دلیل سوزش شدید در قفسه سینه و بالا بودن فشار خون و لرزش شدید پا و بدن ایشان به بهداری برده شدند. پس از معاینه ۲ پزشک بهداری زندان، دستور اعزام فوری و اورژانسی ایشان صادر شد و پس از ۴ ساعت اتلاف وقت نهایتأ ً اعلام شد مقام قضایی زندان مانع و مخالف اعزام ایشان به بیمارستان هستند.
خانم وسمقی با وضعیت غیرعادی و نگران‌کننده به بند بازگشته‌اند.
وجدان و انسانیت حکم می‌کند ایشان با این وضعیت جسمی و ضعف شدید بینایی و حملات مکرر در ناحیه سینه حداقل اجازه مداوا در بیمارستان را داشته باشند.

سر نکردن روسری و مخالفت علنی و قاطع و مستدل این اسلام شناس مشهور ، دلیل حبس ظالمانه او شده است. اما متاسفانه سیاست سرکوبگرانه و بی رحمانه نهادهای امنیتی – قضایی، موجب محرومیت او از درمان و رسیدگی پزشکی نیز شده است.
ضمن اعلام نگرانی از وضعیت‌نگران‌کننده صدیقه وسمقی نسبت به تداوم سرکوب هولناک و مرگ بار حکومت علیه زنان ایران معترض هستم.
از مجامع حقوق بشری جهانی میخواهم با قاطعیت مانع سیاست غیرانسانی” یا مرگ یا حجاب اجباری” توسط حکومت استبدادی دینی شوند.
