Clara Buenger today : Narges We Hear You!
Clara Buenger, German jurist and politician stated in the German Parliament today: “I am reminded of the words of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi, who recently, from Evin Prison, urged resistance against the large-scale war on women in Iran. Narges, we hear you, and we must remain united in solidarity for as long as the people of Iran continue their struggle for freedom.”
The women, the Kurds, those in Iran who take to the streets, they are the brave ones. In this regard, I think of the words of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi, who recently called from Evin Prison to resist the large-scale war against women in Iran. Narges, we hear you, and we must stand in solidarity as long as the people in Iran fight for their freedom. Mr. Hardt, it’s nice that you have discovered your solidarity with the revolution in Iran. However, I wonder how seriously you actually mean this support when you demand more deportations to Iran in a proposal. So on one hand, you demand a tougher stance and on the other hand, you want to make agreements with Iran about deportation. Don’t you find that a bit hypocritical? From our perspective, the expiration of the deportation stop to Iran was fatal. Ethnic, religious minorities such as Kurds, as well as regime critics, live in constant danger there. Many thousands of people were arrested last year for their engagement and political prisoners are executed daily. And now, the musician Toomaj Salehi also faces execution. This clearly shows that no one should be sent back to this country. We, demand a stop to deportations to Iran.
