Setting Fire to the Gallows Rope in Front of Evin Prison
Tuesday, February 18, 2025 – Evin Prison, Tehran
On the evening of Tuesday, February 18, a group of civil activists, including Sedigheh Vasmaghi, Aliyeh Motalebzadeh, Kambiz Noroozzadeh, Hasti Amiri, Shaqayeq Moradi, Ali Nanvaei, Majid Mosafer, Narges Mohammadi, Elham Salehi, and others, gathered in front of Evin Prison to protest against the death penalty in Iran. This marked the second public demonstration under the No to Execution Tuesdays campaign.
During the protest, activists set fire to a gallows rope as a symbolic act of resistance against executions. They called upon the public to support prisoners on hunger strike who are demanding an end to capital punishment in Iran. The demonstrators chanted: We stand until the death penalty is abolished—until the end.
In a video recorded at the protest, prominent human rights defenders Narges Mohammadi and Sedigheh Vasmaghi addressed the crowd, reaffirming their commitment to the campaign:
Tonight, Tuesday, February 18, is a No to Execution Tuesday. We stand in front of Evin Prison in support of the No to Execution campaign, calling for the abolition of the death penalty. We hope that international organizations will support this campaign and that public pressure will help end executions in Iran. We stand until the death penalty is abolished.

Our fellow citizens are on death row in prisons across Iran. Here, in front of Evin Prison, behind us are the hills of Evin. Inside the prison, inmates are on hunger strike to tell the world: No to Execution! We must do everything in our power to save lives.

دومین تجمع فعالان مدنی در مقابل زندان اوین برای اعتراض به اعدام
به آتش کشیدن طناب دار در مقابل زندان اوین
سه شنبه ۳۰بهمن ماه ۱۴۰۳جمعی از فعالان مدنی از جمله صدیقه وسمقی، عالیه مطلب زاده، کامبیز نوروز زاده، هستی امیری، شقایق مرادی، علی نانوایی، مجید مسافر، نرگس محمدی ، الهام صالحی و…. در مقابل در زندان اوین تجمع کردند.
آنها خواهان حمایت مردم از اعتصاب غذای زندانیان در کارزار سه شنبه های نه به اعدام شدند و شعار تا لغو حکم اعدام ایستاده ایم تا پایان را سر دادند.
